About sodium thiosulphate
Sodium Thiosulphate is an inorganic compound with the formula Na2S203.xH20. Typically it is available as the white or colourless pentahydrate, Na25203•5H20. The solid is an efflorescent (loses water readily) crystalline substance that dissolves well in water. It is also called sodium thiosulfate or “hypo”. Sodium thiosulfate is an inorganic sodium salt composed of sodium and thiosulfate ions in a 2:1 ratio.
The melting point of Sodium Thiosulphate is 48.5 °C. It is practically insoluble in alcohol. Sodium Thiosulphate is 20.9 g soluble in 100 cc water. The density of Sodium Thiosulphate is 1.7 g/ cm.
