About sodium sulphate
Sodium sulfate, also known as sodium sulphate or sulfate of soda, is an inorganic compound with the formula Na2SO4. It has many industrial uses and is highly soluble in water. When anhydrous, sodium sulfate is a white crystalline solid. The decahydrate, Na2SO4.10H2O, is also known as Glauber’s salt, and the heptahydrate, Na2SO4.7H2O, is transformed into mirabilite when cooled. Mirabilite is the natural mineral form of the decahydrate, and about two-thirds of the world’s production of sodium sulfate comes from it.
Industrial applications / Uses of sodium sulphate

Electrolyte replenisher: Used in isosmotic solutions to prevent disturbing normal electrolyte balance.

Cathartic or diuretic: Because it’s poorly absorbed in the body and can draw water out of cells, it can be used as a cathartic or diuretic.

Laundry detergent: Used as a filler in powdered home laundry detergents.
•
Paper pulping: Used in the Kraft process of paper pulping to make highly alkaline sulfides.
•
Other uses: Used as a fining agent to remove air bubbles from molten glass, and as a diluent for food colors.
