About ammonium chloride
Ammonium chloride is a white crystalline solid and soluble in water (37%). The boiling point and melting point of Ammonium Chloride is 338 °C and 520 °C respectively. Ammonium chloride is manufactured by double-decomposition processes that all involve the reaction of sodium chloride with an ammonium salt.
Ammonium salt is supplied directly, or generated in situ by the reaction of ammonia and a supplementary ingredient. Ammonium chloride and a sodium salt are formed. The sodium salt is normally less soluble and is separated at higher temperatures; ammonium chloride is recovered from the filtrate by cooling.
